Workshop with Eleanor Burns

We had a three day workshop with Baby Lock machines and Eleanor Burns. She's a famous quilter from California who invented a new system for piecing many years ago called strip piecing. It was tiring, but fun! Eleanor is in the middle of the top picture facing sideways. My friend finished her embellished vase-very nice!! I got a nice picture of woman using the embellishers and also of Eleanor and Me. It was a learning and fun experience.

Quilt for Bob and Susan's house

We went to see Susan and Bob's new house in The Villages. It is really lovely. He sent a picture of a house going up near them. I forgot to bring the camera! The rest of Florida is in a recession, but not The Villages! I made them a quilt for their new home. Many, many happy years in your new home!!

More Quilts from Quilt Guild

The first picture is one that I did to give to Rotary for them to auction at their Christmas auction. It's all sports and the quilting is baseballs, footballs, catcher's mitt, bat, and basketballs. There is Marion's 'ugly green', which is actually quite pretty. One meeting she had us all bring in green fabric and we put quilts together and she called them 'ugly green' Joan has done one of horses for her granddaughter. Nancy did a pretty red one with a fishing motif for her uncle.

Quilt Guild, November 5, 2009

We had a speaker at our quilt guild named Beth. She's has written a few patterns and she showed us her quilts. They were very nice. Joan Hitchcock showed a quilt she made for her granddaughter with kittens in it. The money we raised from our raffle quilt was presented to HOW (helping our women), which is a charity group from Provincetown that help women. They were given a 'check' for over $5,000.00. Of course, they were given a real check from our guild. They were so appreciative!
